What is SEEDS of CHANGE?
Initially created by the Soka Gakkai International (SGI) and The Earth Charter Initiative for the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development.
The exhibition was adjudged the 3rd best Individual exhibition.
Promotes education as the basis for a sustainable human society.
Aimed to strengthen international cooperation towards the dissemination of environmental information.
Contains 16 Panels (1.0m wide x 1.5m height) in English, based on the STATE of the WORLD with the hopeful message about the potential of even one individual to make a positive change. SGI Dubai used local effort to translate these 16 panels to Arabic as a measure to educate the local populace about sustainable future.
The 'SEEDS of CHANGE' exhibition comes to the UAE after being hosted in several cities across the globe including:
"Quiet Revolution", an educational documentary produced by the SGI in collaboration with UNDP, UNEP and SGI, covers environmental challenges facing humanity and showcases inspiring case studies, would be played during the exhibition. This 25 minute film has received international acclaim. It combines coverage of key environmental challenges facing humanity with inspiring cased studies of individuals in Kenya, India and Slovakia.
This proposed event by Soka Gakkai International is part of it/s effort to promote International understanding for sustainable future and peace awareness with the support of the Dubai Humanitarian City (DHC), Earth Charter and UNESCO.
Who is the audience?
Students from educational institutions / campus in Dubai, such as Knowledge Village, Dubai Men's College, Women's College, and Zayed University etc. (estimated number of visitors 10,000).
VIP's from Dubai Humanitarian City, other Humanitarian agencies and embassies.
Friends and relatives of SGI members (estimated number of visitors approx. 6000)
Children of grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 from selected schools in Dubai (Estimated number of children approx 5000).
SOC on the Move:
In the future, the exhibition will be held at other venues in the Middle East to enhance awareness on Sustainable Development & Sustainable Future. Preferable venues for holding the exhibition would be educational campuses.
